Here is a guidebook for increasing awareness about the process of transition that we call dying. Dying is a very natural part of life, and is simply the transformation from our human form back to our eternal spiritual essence. Our transition is the journey we take in consciousness as we leave our human form and life behind. We have the sleep of forgetfulness when we transition into the physical world and the clarity of awakened consciousness when we transition back home.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience.
We are spiritual beings having a human experience."
~Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Various religions that base their views on ancient texts and beliefs, describe what may or may not happen at death, what rituals should be administered, how to care for the body, etc. But many people now believe that near-death experience reports provide us with a new perspective on dying that offers greater opportunity for the evolution of consciousness. What near-death experiencers have to tell us is that we don't die! Only our physical bodies die and we survive in consciousness on the other side of the veil. Many of those religious rituals may still be included as part of this practice as each person gets to design his or her own journey.

"The principle purpose of dream meditation is to train oneself in such a way that, even during the dream state, the individual can actually experience what is known as the Clear Light."
~The Dalai Lama

This handbook offers practical ways to help people live this life free from the fear of death and raise their consciousness so they have more options during their transition process. The practices offered can become a daily routine; a weekly experience while attending the church, synagogue or temple of your choice; part of your meditation or yoga practice; or a cool down after aerobics. The practices may be customized so they work with your lifestyle, your schedule, and your beliefs.

These practices may be used for individual personal and spiritual growth of consciousness, or a minister, spiritual counselor or holistic practitioner may want to study this method and offer classes or private sessions. A person may practice this method on their own, or gather a group of family and friends together to support each other while learning about this practice and other end-of-life options.

The book is written for the dying person and their designated transition guide to help them have all the important conversations, answer all the important questions, wrap up unfinished business, complete their bucket list, and develop a compassionate practice of conscious dying so when that time comes they are able to consciously experience a beautiful, peaceful transition to the other side.

This book is also written for those who have accepted that death is part of life and there are things one can do to prepare for the journey. As with any other journey, it goes best when plans are made well ahead of time and everything is taken care of before you leave. The process of accepting death and letting go of the physical involves opening to the spiritual nature of our lives-- forgiveness, expressing love and gratitude.

This is how we can peacefully live the time we have left in the physical world and what we turn to in the days and hours before we gently slip out of our bodies and reunite with our loved ones on the other side. This book helps families have the necessary end-of-life conversations and gives them a process to go through together when old age or a terminal illness becomes the focus of attention. It gives the person doing the dying a roadmap and a guide to the wonders that await us on the other side of the veil.

Let him who wishes to be eternally happy know and believe that he will live after death. Let him think of this and keep it in mind, for it is the truth.
--Emanuel Swedenborg, Secrets of Heaven

Reviews--

How to Die Consciously by Diane Goble isn't like other books about dying. It's the personal, right-here-an-now exercises, ideas, rituals, that set it apart. This wealth of "what really works" comes from her own experiences when she died and returned a near-death survivor, and from her years since serving at the deathbed in a ministry of love and forgiveness. There are so many books out now about how to help the dying, but nothing like this. Her "Personal Transition Guidebook" that she helps the dying to create becomes a precious gift-- a way for individuals to consciously prepare for what's to come, and to better understand the life in their death, and what happens next. The success of what she has helped the dying do for themselves has laid the groundwork for Transition Guides trained in her system to aid in a conscious and spiritually supportive transition. Anyone can benefit from this book, so keep it handy. You may use it more often than you think.

--P.M.H. Atwater, L.H.D., researcher and author, among her books-- Near-Death Experiences: The Rest of the Story, The Big Book of Near-Death Experiences, and We Live Forever: The Real Truth About Death.

Diane Goble's book, How to Die Consciouly: Secrets from Beyond the Veil, shows us how learning to die consciously not only soothes the transition for the dying but also makes for a better grieving experience for those left behind. After reading this book, it all comes down to one truth. Love is all there is. Learning to live in love and not fear hence teaches us to die consciously; prepared mentally, emotionally and spiritually whenever our time comes. As Goble writes in conclusion, "knowing how to die consciously will awaken a new level of awareness as we realize who we truly are and remember the true meaning of life here on earth. It will allow us to experience Oneness with the Light and God-Consciousness before we even leave this body and go back home."

Since Diane's first web site BeyondtheVeil.net came online in 1996, she has been responding to emails from people all over the world who are seeking answers to their questions about who we are and why we are here, is there a God, is there Heaven and Hell, is there an Afterlife? They ask not because they think she has definitive answers, but because she offers a different perspective as an NDEr for them to consider. She has shared these emails on the web site in her Seekers Open Forum over the years to help others with similar questions. Now she has put them into electronic book format to make them available to people using electronic reading devices like Kindle as well as PDF, which can be read online or printed out.

Sonny wrote, "I was moved to tears. Some how I wanted to cry with joy for what I was reading. I was so deeply touched by your insights, some how you’ve articulated so many things I’ve felt."

Shawn wrote, "I just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing all your experiences and knowledge with the world. You see you were partly responsible for saving my life."

Spiritual Questions

$3.99

For the first time, More Conversations with a Near-Death Experiencer is available as an ebook. This volume contains deeper spiritual questions, philosophical discussions, theological debates, and some interesting stories and quotes from people on their journey to higher consciousness. The intention is to provide food for thought, not to challenge your beliefs or convince you of anything. Seek the answers first within and much of it will be confirmed in these conversations.

Marianne wrote, "... it was like a light bulb went off in my head. It's like I always knew that but was afraid to think it because it's not what I was brought up to believe. I'm so grateful to you for opening my eyes."

RJ said it was "the most profound, insightful piece of writing I have yet found in all of the NDE books I have read. I know how impossible it is to put NDE subjects in relatable or fresh terms, but I think you succeeded."

In 1989 Diane was attempting to get started writing her book, Through the Tunnel: A Traveler's Guide to Spiritual Rebirth, but she was continually being interrupted by thoughts coming from unidentified sources about information other than what her book was about. "Unidentified" meaning the thoughts didn't seem to be arising from her own consciousness. Finally she let the thoughts flow and began writing them down. She realized she was writing another book. A book that insisted upon being written... now! In meditation, it came to her that these thoughts were coming from other entities who insisted she continue writing the book they were giving her. She agreed to write their book if they would help her finish her book when she finished theirs. It was agreed and so it was.

Sitting in the Lotus Blossom is the result of their collaboration, which was a process of Diane receiving a download of information during meditation, during which she was able to "step-down" their communication into comprehensive written language and type it into her computer. She asks these entities who they are and why they are communicating with her. She describes them as she envisioned them and transcribed the information as it was given. She leaves it to the reader to determine the truth of what they say about this life and their life, the meaning of life, the origin of life, the future of life, how to live a better life... and admits that she doesn't agree with it all herself.

Everett wrote, "Thank you so much for sharing this information. It's what I've always believed but could never express in words."

Audra wrote, "Thank you for helping me realize that I'm not crazy like my family thinks I am because I believe these things. I feel like I can come out of my prison now and hold my head up."

Relaxation Exercise 1&2

Vocals by Diane Goble • Music by VisionaryMusic.com

Get yourself in a comfortable position, turn down/off the lights, light a candle, turn off your phone and prepare yourself for relaxation.

Exercise 1 teaches a relaxing, rhythmic breathing exercise and a progressive relaxation technique to train your body to relax its small muscle groups. The more often you practice the faster your muscles will learn to relax with your breathing. Practice Exercise 1 for a week or two before moving on to Exercise 2.

Exercise 2 continues the rhythmic breathing excercise and shifts the muscle relaxation technique to your body's large muscle groups. If you hold tension in your neck and shoulders or other muscles, tense and relax them until they feel relaxed. Once you feel you have mastered the relaxation technique, you can listen to your favorite meditation music while you tense and relax your whole body as you breathe in and breathe out gently, naturally, until you feel very relaxed then just continue to pay attention to the breath as you gently melt into a relaxed pool of no thought.
